‘Apna time aayega’ is a catchphrase from the Bollywood song of the same name from the movie ‘Gully boy’. The line ‘Apna time aayega’ is translates to ‘My time will come’(similar to every dog has its day). This phrase is commonly used by people during bad phase of their life, who then motivate and console themselves by saying that one day things will be better.

It is a common phrase used widely in different languages. However, it recently caught mass attention among trolls when the song of Gully Boy movie with the same title got released. The song ‘Apna time ayega’ has motivational lyrics that the lead Ranveer Singh sings to motivate himself to overcome the tough situation he is going through. In the movie, he intend to achieve fame in the world of hip-hop as a street rapper.

Apart from being used on mocking various professions and actors portraying to be stuck in a typical situation, the catchphrase ‘Apna time aayega’ has also been used in political context. A Facebook page called Narendra modi samarthak posted a meme recently wherein the phrase was used to portray the existing situation of Nirav Modi in a hilarious manner as he knows someday he will have to face what Vijay Mallaya is facing now.
This catchphrase was also used on the Indian cricket team, who lost the game in the 1st ODI. The fans came up with memes consoling Indian cricket team and be like, ‘Apna time ayega’ for the 2nd ODI.
Last month, the very famous food chain- Barbeque Nation used this catchphrase for marketing and promoting their unlimited buffets with the caption -“Okay… for some days we are changing the answer of “Kyu?” to “Kyuki apna time ayega”.
