Last 60 – Day Study Plan for TNPSC Group IV Exam Preparation

Phase 1: Days 1–20 – Lay the Foundation

Goal: Build Concept Clarity & Cover Syllabus

This phase plays a crucial role in your preparation, as you start building a strong understanding of core topics. Take your time — focus on truly grasping the concepts instead of simply memorizing them.

    General Tamil / English

Choose based on your strengths. If you’re good at Tamil, go for it — the scoring potential is high.

Cover basic grammar, sentence formation, vocabulary, proverbs, synonyms-antonyms, and reading comprehension.

    Begin with static subjects like:

    • History: Tamil Nadu history, Ancient India
    • Geography: Physical features, rivers, agriculture, climate
    • Polity: Constitution basics, Preamble, Fundamental Rights
    • Science: Basic Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from Samacheer books

Refer to Samacheer Kalvi’s books (6th to 10th) for poetry, prose, and grammar sections.

    General Studies.

    Aptitude & Mental Ability

Start with basics: Numbers, Percentages, Ratios, Simplification

Focus on question patterns – especially poetry lines, authors, and grammar-based MCQs.

Read and revise 1 prose + 1 poem daily.

    General Studies

    Shift focus to:

    • Economics: Budget plan( Last Five Years), basic terms
    • Current Affairs: Last 6 months – awards, sports, schemes, personalities.
    • Environment & Ecology: Pollution, climate, biodiversity
    • Revise previously studied subjects with short notes or mind maps

    Aptitude & Mental Ability

    • Start solving mixed question sets
    • Learn shortcut tricks for calculations
    • Focus on tricky topics like Time & Distance, Profit & Loss, Series, Puzzles

    Phase 3: Days 41–55 – Mock Tests & Full-Length Revision

Goal: Simulate Exam Pressure & Master Time Management

This is your test zone phase. By now, you’ve covered 80–90% of the syllabus. The next step is polishing your skills with mock exams and pinpointed revision.

    Mock Tests

Attempt at least 3 full-length mock tests per week

Simulate exam conditions (3-hour timer, no distractions)

After each test, analyze mistakes — don’t just look at scores

    Revision Strategy

    • Pick your weaker areas and revise with a focused mind.
    • For General Studies, revise subject-wise flashcards or one-pagers.
    • For Tamil/English, re-read poetry lines, grammar rules, authors, and workbook questions.
    • For Aptitude, focus on previously incorrect questions and revise formulae.

Phase 4: Days 56–60 – The Final Sprint

    Goal: Stay Calm, Stay Sharp

This is not the time to study new topics. Your goal now is to boost confidence and avoid burnout.

Final Tips for the Last 5 Days:

    • Focus only on revision. Don’t introduce new material.
    • Go through your notes and marked questions.
    • Revise key facts, dates, and formulae.
    • Rest well – your brain needs to be alert, not overworked.
    • Avoid peer pressure and group study at this stage.
